    I am having great success with this herb growing it for the first time this season. I scattered the seeds directly onto the prepared and watered soil surface of a large pot outdoors after frost danger had passed. Right now I have a large billowy mass of hundreds of plants in there, in the pre-flower stage just about ready to cut. The crowding has NOT inhibited them, and the leaves are super fragrant. I am in zone 6b. If I had to individually start this kind of thing in cells and then harden off I would lose my mind. I take the same approach with basil and marjoram with outstanding results. Just use a plastic bag or cover of some kind if needed in the early stages to spur germination, but mostly not necessary. Results may vary depending on your zone.

      I think I saw that gardener from Africa. She came home with her containers pushed haphazardly to to the side of the road. I'm glad all wasn't lost, but it was sad to see some of her hard work was lost. I haven't followed up because she isn't someone I follow..the video was in my suggested videos.

    The rock beds are so pretty! It’s wonderful to see that the River garden has recovered. :) I have a question, a few of the potatoes I harvested have green spots on them. Should I plant them back into the soil to grow more potatoes? Will they even grow? If so, what’s a good time to do so? Haha, sorry for the questions, I normally live the gardener’s life vicariously through you. 😂

    • @RainbowGardens
      @RainbowGardens 9 днів тому

      Gosh, it's hard to say without seeing them. I usually discard potatoes with green because they can be slightly toxic. This usually occurs because part of the potato was exposed to sun. However, there could be tiny green spots where it is about to sprout, so in that case, I would sprout them and plant for fall potatoes.

    • @starshinesoldier

    • @mustwereallydothis
      @mustwereallydothis 10 днів тому

      @jamiegilbert6201 I grow most of my own food. I do not, however, spend stupid amounts of money on a product to do what a simple bucket of dirt could do better. How many people who can afford one of those things would use it to grow potatoes? I'm guessing exactly one

    • @RainbowGardens
      @RainbowGardens 10 днів тому

      Haha, that's why I grow 3 different crops in one every year. I planted cucumbers in behind the potatoes, and when the cucumbers are done, then I will plant spinach which grows through my winter. I have 8 GreenStalks total and grow more food (n a very small space) than we can eat fresh, so I also have plenty to preserve for the winter. One original Greenstalk yields 20+ pounds of organic bell peppers (I have many videos on this). Look up the cost of just ONE organic, red, bell pepper and THEN do the math. I have food security and learned a valuable skill very few people know how to do - grow my own food. So when the store shelves are empty, my deck will be full.
